About Emily Wilder

Openness and honesty comes through Emily’s voice is like a river returning to the sea.

Her music is an expression of her life’s journey through love, loss, and the passion to transmit beauty and inspiration.

The youngest of three daughters, raised in the mountains of Montana by her Jazz pianist father and actress mother, Emily has always had Music and performing in her blood. As a child she would wake at night to the sound of fingers on keys as her father played piano for hours creating musical soundscapes in her dreams.

Emily began studying classical music at the age of 10, but it wasn’t until later that she began to learn all the old greats from her dad. At 15, she began playing in jazz clubs along the west coast while simultaneously attending Southern Oregon state college.

At 17, she was accepted at the Berklee College of Music; here she deepened her understanding of musical theory and performance where she was acknowledged as an outstanding student.

At 22, she spent a year traveling throughout India and South East Asia. This experience opened her consciousness and began to shape both her personal life and the direction of her songwriting. She then began accompanying herself on guitar and her music blossomed.

In 1998, Emily moved to the Bay area to pursue a musical career, where she developed a strong following playing in various clubs such as The Fillmore, Café du Nord, The Hotel Utah, Sweetwaters in Mill Valley, and a numerous spiritual centers. During this time she was a finalist in the Lilith Fair talent search.

Since then, she has been living in Portland Oregon, raising a daughter, and finishing two cd’s that she now brings to you.

Imagination” was recorded with her father, and features some of Portland’s finest jazz talents.

Blueprint of the Soul” was recorded and produced by Gregg Williams and is a collection of her songs through the past decade.
